• Movement and Yoga

Our movement and yoga curriculum brings a centering to the beginning of our day. Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves.

  • Peace Education

Peace education is the process of acquiring knowledge and developing the attitudes, skills, and behaviors to live in harmony with oneself, with others, and with the natural environment. The way of peace is the way of kindness, appreciation, and respect. The founders of Montessori Peace School have developed a unique educational program based on principles of positive psychology, that shares with children, through simple stories, the unique strengths and gifts of different historical figures that have positively impacted the world.

  • Music Program

Music plays an important role in our daily classroom life. In addition to music and movement during our Circles, the children also participate in a weekly Music Together Class. This program is integrated into the classroom experience and then continues at home as family members use the MT music and home materials to further engage their children.

  • Spanish

The children enjoy weekly Spanish classes using music as the underlying basis to build vocabulary, enunciation and appreciation for the language.

  • Imagination Playground

Our Imagination Playground provides great opportunities for outdoor creative and cooperative play. Montessori Peace School is one of ten Montessori schools on the east coast having an Imagination Playground for their students!

  • Nature Connection

  • Great Artist Series

Each month the Kindergarteners explore an artist, learning about their lives, their contributions, and their techniques. The children then do a project based on one of the artists works. Some recent artists we explored are Wassily Kandinsky, Alma Thomas, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keefe, and Jackson Pollack.

  • Virtue Lessons

Our virtue program teaches the children about living peacefully, compassionately, and responsibly. We discuss, role play, and encourage active participation in learning and demonstrating virtues. At the end of Kindergarten the children create their very own virtue poster, represented as they wish.

  • Family and Community Building Events

One of our goals is to create connections and friendships among families at Montessori Peace School.  At the beginning of the school year we have a school picnic to get to know one another and reconnect. We also have a Winter holiday program, Mother’s Day tea, Graduation and end of year program. Parents hold parent coffees throughout the school year.
