Hear from our families…

I toured almost all montessori schools in Herndon and Reston and saved MPS for last because honestly, based on the few reviews and picture online, I was apprehensive about sending my children there. To be honest, each time I toured the more expensive montessori schools in the area, I left thinking "this is the one" but that was really based on the aesthetics of the building and classrooms (based on what I could see during the short tour). However, there was always something that didn't sit right with me...like how quiet the students were (very military like setting), how the teachers didn't even engage or make eye contact with me, how I was pressured to sign the contract before leaving, etc. I knew that whatever school I would send my children to, it had to be a place I was 100% comfortable with right away (follow your instincts) and didn't have an ounce of uncertainty. After a couple of weeks of back-to-back tours, I finally had my tour at MPS. I drove onto the gravel parking lot and looked at the old white house thinking...it should be a quick tour and then I'll be done with it. However, it turns out that I "saved the best for last!" As soon as I stepped into the building, I was enveloped with a feeling of love, peace, acceptance, happiness, etc. I was ready to sign the contract even before meeting the teachers and students that were so excited to show me (a stranger) their work. I knew what I felt was what I wanted my children to feel every day they went to school. My only concern was transitioning them from a traditional daycare (that they never adjusted to) to a new school. However, within the first week, my children (20 months at the time) stopped crying at drop-offs and walked in all by themselves barely saying bye to me. That was confirmation that I made the right choice!

My wife and I researched the Montessori preschools in this area of Northern Virginia (Herndon, Reston, Sterling). MPS was far and beyond the best of those we visited.
I remember walking into sunlit big room and thinking, "This place has a special feeling to it." It is a home, filled with love and light, not a storefront location with a retail feel to it.
The proprietors know their craft well and have been doing it for some time. Our daughter started in their first pre-primary class and is graduating Kindergarten this year. The amount of growth she has made is tremendous...I'm actually worried that she will be too bored in her first grade classroom.Parvez K.
Amazing and nurturing school. Would recommend to families and children who want music, yoga, play, learning, and a philosophy of kindness.

MPS is a godsend. It has been the greatest decision we made for our boys, who enjoy going to school everyday and are excelling academically and socially.

MPS has given my daughter a home away from home since she was 2 years old . The skills taught for every day practical life along with the emphasis Montessori puts on self sufficiency has definitely provided my daughter a leg up as she enters grade school . She will be graduating this year and has blossomed into a incredible little girl already reading and enjoying math .
We thank a Angel named Mrs. Jennifer from " Music Together " to have referred us to MPS .
We will miss this very special place.Laura K.
My husband and I did a lot of research before landing on MPS, and the decision to enroll our children there was one of the best we have made. The children have thrived and advanced in the care of MPS' amazing teachers. And I absolutely love that their routine includes activities like yoga, music class, and gardening. I highly recommend this montessori to anyone looking!

The moment you walk into this school and meet the teachers, you will feel the warmth and genuity.
I have seen with my own daughter (who graduated 3 years ago) and other alumni's, still resonate all the teachings that were instilled in them from this school.
I wish there were more teachers like this everywhere. The teachers here teach the kids to accept everyone for who they are, to be kind and help the kids to gravitate towards independence. The way they teach kids how to read is very effective as well.
Every member of this school are so loving towards your child. The whole staff here are truly special and trusting. Sometimes, I feel they are raising my kids better than me.
I have 3 kids, one who has already graduated and 2 others who are still attending. The staff here does not treat each kid the same, but to each kid's needs and aptitude.
I highly recommend this school or at the very least a visit. It won't be a waste of your time. -
My daughter graduated kindergarten and my youngest is in pre-k and will be entering kindergarten next fall at MPS. I'm not sure I can articulate how much I appreciate this wonderful school. The rooms are naturally bright and filled to the brim with books and educational toys. The teachers are warm and can't hide their love for the children they guide. Activities are well-thought out and combine numerous disciplines. Under normal circumstances, the school has numerous activities that fostered a community of parents and children which unfortunately has been dialed back due to covid, however I'd expect these to return with vaccination rates rising. The school adopted virtual field trips this year, with kids stamping their plane/train/bus "tickets" to locales both near and far. These are the kind of creative activities these dedicated teachers developed and it is so much fun to hear about these adventures!

My son has been attending Montessori Peace School for the past 3 years. He started in the preprimary class. He loves the school and adores his teachers and fellow classmates. The teacher encourage and emphasize on kindness, self confidence, independence, yoga and promote environmental awareness in the kids in addition to the excellent Montessori curriculum.
My son will start the kindergarten program this fall which will complete the 3 year primary program and is looking forward to the leadership skills that is encouraged in addition to general curriculum.
I highly recommend this school.Prakruti Anand

My children have been at MPS since 2016 and it has been an amazing environment where their interests have flourished. My oldest is graduating and his reading skills and interest in geography and other cultures have lead us to have many in-depth conversations. My younger son is an art lover and frequently makes paintings for me. It is a very nurturing school with teachers that treat us and the kids like family.

This school was a defining moment in my children's lives. MPS has taught them one special skill - the ability to breathe, meditate, and find joy within themselves. I know that when middle school, high school, college gets challenging, all the children that went through the MPS will soar!

We cannot recommend this gem of a community enough. Our two youngest children started at MPS at ages four and 18 months, and our experiences with both of the primary and preprimary classrooms have been nothing short of magical. Every teacher with whom we have worked has been exceedingly patient, warm, intuitive, personable, and clearly in love with their job and each of the children in their charge. Our middle daughter has a very strong-willed personality, and her leadership skills and love of reading have truly blossomed in the last year and a half. She started reading chapter books before kindergarten and has become a voracious bookworm. Our "pandemic baby" walked into the little white house on the first day and legitimately never looked back. In true Montessori fashion, she decided that she wanted to potty train shortly after she turned two years old, and her teachers have been so encouraging and supportive. We love the focus on the whole child, on community, on kindness, on love of learning--we are so grateful that our girls are developing such a strong foundation in what it means to be a citizen of the world.

All of our three children attended Montessori Peace School and it was an experience to be treasured. This is the school where you as a parent truly feel a part of the greater MPS family, you know your children are surrounded with love and are taught not only the academic curriculum but also much about emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, cross-cultural awareness, unity, diversity and inclusion. We moved from the area four years ago, my oldest is starting middle school now and the youngest is a first grader but all three of them often say that they want to go back to Virginia and visit their school and how much they miss it. Montessori Peace School is a very nurturing, yet orderly and well structured way to ease the children into the world of learning. The owners, who also teach, are most gracious, wise, loving and greatly experienced educators who put their hearts and lives into MPS.

Ms. Sangeet, Ms. Sunder and Ms. Kate's passion for the school really emanates to her staff. They really drive home that keyword "Peace," in every parent's minds for sure. You could rest assured that the staff here genuinely cares for your child and that they are not just a number, and could be trusted with utmost confidence. When it comes times to graduate, we will sincerely miss everybody here because of the impact they all had on my children's upbringing, they all played a vital role in the person they are today. Words cannot really express how we feel about this school and all that they have done to help them. So please attend an openhouse and experience for yourself what they can contribute to your child's future. You will be pleasantly surprised.
