In the third week of September, we have a community potluck picnic at North Shores Pavilion in Reston. It is always a fun-filled day with children, parents, and teachers getting together outside of school. .

Early autumn brings the cool, crisp air, and the harvest time. The children look forward to our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch to choose their “perfect pumpkin!” They delight in our Halloween Festivities, and especially enjoy our traditional Costume Parade into the Town of Herndon.

One of our favorite traditions is our Thanksgiving Luncheon. The children work together to create a wonderful lunch for our school community, which includes the infamous “Fruit Turkeys” made with joy by the Kindergarten Class.

We celebrate the winter holiday season with a performance by our Pre-Primary and Primary students. Families are invited to enjoy songs presented by their children. There is also a potluck breakfast at Frying Pan Farm Park Pavilion organized by parent volunteers!

We enjoy learning about the customs and celebrations of people all over the world. In this way, we get a greater understanding of how much we have in common no matter where we live in the world. We celebrate the Lunar New Year by gathering together and making our very own vegetarian dumplings that we enjoy eating together banquet style!Description goes here

The children are so delighted each May to host their moms at our Mother’s Day Tea Party. They prepare heartfelt songs or perhaps a Play, do some baking, and of course, make some delicious tea. We have a cozy time together, and the children get to show their moms how much they are loved and appreciated!

The Kindergarten year is very special as it completes the Montessori Primary Program. At that point, a child will have been at our school for three or four years (depending on the child’s birthday) or five years if they had their start in the Preprimary Program. So, Graduation is one of our most special events, and our entire Montessori Peace School Community attends it!!!
